28 weeks and 2 days

Slowly, but surely, the bump continues to grow!
I was anti-pink until I saw this.

Countdown to Kate

11 weeks and 4 days to our due date! We went to the doctor today and everything is still going smoothly. Kate is in position (head down, booty up)....hopefully, she'll stay that way for the remainder of the pregnancy. She likes to show off by moving and wiggling every time the doctor gets ready to listen her heartbeat. My glucose tolerance test was today, so I had the pleasure of drinking some nasty orange sugar drink (Kate showed her appreciation for a good sugar high by kicking and playing more than normal!) and then having my blood drawn through a needle the size of a straw (okay....that's a bit of an exaggeration, but it was big!)! Our appointments are now every 2 weeks, instead of every 4 weeks....so it's really hitting me how close the big day is!

We've made it back to Babies r Us twice since the last update (much to Chris's delight) and we've gotten Kate's car seat, stroller, and bedding. All we need is a little wall decor and we're good to go! And, thanks to my sisters-in-law and my mother, Kate's closet is filling up quickly!

I only have a day and a half of school left, but the first few weeks of summer are already busy with inservice, vacation bible school, more doctor's appointments, and a prenatal massage (happy birthday to me from Chris!)!

Stay tuned for more news as we continue our countdown to Kate!

Babies r Us, Baby-Hatching, & Baby Furniture

The Galles have been very busy since the last update! We made it to Babies r Us to register for baby stuff, which is a lot different than registering for a wedding. Not knowing what half of the stuff in that store is used for, we muddled through and registered for what we think we're going to need! We'll soon see how we did...3 months to go! Of course, Chris' favorite part was using the scanner...so it's always fun to look back at what ended up on the registry!

The next weekend, we went to St. Joe's for our childbirth class (or, as Chris calls it, baby-hatching class!)...another new, eye-opening experience! The instructor was hilarious and didn't sugarcoat anything....she even imitated Bill Cosby's lamaze impression! So we watched childbirth videos (I'm definitely getting the epidural), practiced breathing, and practiced getting into different birth positions! Who knew there are so many ways to go about getting this baby out of me? Overall, I feel much more comfortable with what God expects my body to do in August!

In between childbirth class and registering for baby gear, we managed to get our crib and changing table put together with minimal stress (thank goodness for husbands who can interpret bad drawings and poor assembly instructions). The crib bedding was ordered this week and should be in soon, so when it's all put together, I'll post pictures and include one of me (that's for you, Amos).

Then there was Mother's Day and my birthday. Even though I'm not technically a mother yet, I've been a mother in my heart since I found out about Kate. So, I got birthday presents and a few Mother's Day presents (which were really for Kate). Thanks to Aunt GG and Aunt Cookie, we now have a pink onesie with a built-in tutu and matching shoe-sock ballerina slippers! We also have bunny slippers and a stuffed bunny to match. And I absolutely adore them (the clothes and my sisters-in-law!)!

In other news, there are only 2 1/2 weeks of school left and I can't wait for it to be over. It's been a great school year, but I'm ready to be home and finish getting everything ready for Kate's arrival. I feel very fortunate to have a job that allows me to be off of my feet and in the A/C for the last 3 months of my pregnancy. Leave it to yours truly to have 2 of the most important days in a woman's life (wedding and baby) during the 2 hottest months of the year!

That's about it for now...

We hope that this post finds all of you doing well and we hope to see all of you soon!
